Living room design board reveal! As I announced last week, my next design project in our home is refreshing our living room. I love creating design boards (and use Photoshop to do it – truly so fun for me!), and thought it would be fun to show you this way… also, how perfect was this sound for the reel?!
I want the room to feel fresh, classic, and textured but at the same time livable and lived in. The design board gives you a good idea of how I want to bring this feeling to life but also wanted to walk you through some of my ideas!
Design Ideas
Rug: I have always loved jute rugs! After looking through so many inspo pics to help guide my design, I realized most all of them had a jute rug as the foundation and that solidified using one. Plus, with the door to our backyard and front yard flanking the living room, we needed something that could handle a lot of foot traffic better. So in addition to the durability, the texture it brings to the space will be a great addition!
Furniture: I love our current 1970s navy Thonet chairs but they are more fragile than they look and want to ensure we preserve them so those will be moved and replaced with comfy slipcovered armchairs (with slipcovers so they can easily be washed because #toddlerlife). I also want to find a new entertainment sideboard to bring in some wood texture and storage, a soft ottoman to provide a place for drinks, and of course incorporate my new Henredon side tables (not pictured!).
TV: I would more than love a Frame TV but that is not a spending priority, so I am going to attempt to create a frame for our current TV to disguise it then wall mount it so it will be less of a large black rectangle. Adding a picture light I think will also help it feel less TV-like!
Accessories: My Facebook Marketplace blue and white lamps will be making their debut in here! Then of course some other various types of accessory styling will happen throughout!
Wall Treatment: I am hoping to add some tongue and groove or vertical shiplap to the bump out where the TV is to add dimension, texture and make that area more of a focal point.
