Filling my home with beautiful design is just my happy place, but beautiful things can have not-so-beautiful pricetags. Knowing when to save and when to splurge on pieces is something you have to figure out for your own family and budget, but today I wanted to talk about that “save” category. I am still learning and growing my non-extensive list of budget-friendly places, but here are some tried and true favorites and what decor to focus on at each!
Target
I mean, I guess I could just put “#obviously” as the description, because you probably have this on your list too! This is a common go-to place for home decor of any category and for good reason! They are constantly changing inventory with the seasons or with various collaborators, and it is in a price point that is hard to compete with… I think we all have experienced the cute, I-need-everything vortex pull that is Target. It is super easy online shopping, however, if you go in the store you may find some additional sale or online items that are out of stock.
WHAT I BUY MOST AT TARGET:
- Bedding, Blankets, Pillows
- Lighting
- Home accents: planter pots, table accents, baskets, vases, candle, candle holders
- Entertaining: placemats, tablecloths, serve-wear, charcuterie boards
- Home essentials: fancy hand soaps, decorative towels, bath mats, welcome mats
- Holiday & seasonal home accents: Christmas and Spring/Fall decor
H & M Home
Yes, the fast fashion retailer H&M has home goods, and they are so. stickin. good. They get new inventory every season, so I’ve found if you like something don’t sit on the decision too long, because once it is out of stock then it is highly unlikely it will come back in stock. Much like Target, this is a great place for home accents and also unique holiday decor, but have found they have great art options as well as rugs for smaller spaces, like the kitchen or a hallway. All of their inventory is online so it is super easy online shopping here.
WHAT I BUY MOST AT H&M HOME:
- Decorative objects
- Art
- Rugs for small spaces
- Holiday and seasonal decor (Christmas, Easter, Spring/Summer/Fall)
IKEA
I love going to IKEA. I know it is not for the faint of heart and you need to know what you are looking for because it pulls you in much like Target does, however, the smell of fresh wood combined with cinnamon rolls is a scent that welcomes you right in. Because at this point I feel like I have seen a lot of the staple pieces in other’s homes, if I purchase something from IKEA I try to customize it in some way. We have some staple pieces of furniture from them and their frame prices are unbeatable – also have found their pillar candles, plants and planters to be great! I prefer to go into the store as shipping can get pricey and stock is limited delivery to some locations.
WHAT I BUY MOST AT IKEA:
- Furniture (to customize or hack)
- Picture and art frames
- Specific home accents: pillar candles, select plants, planters
Zara Home
I just recently discovered this in the last six months and it is so chic at a great price. I havent purchased much from here since it is a new find, but I did purchase an amazing caned chair that I LOVE. Much like H&M Home, this is great for home accents and decorative objects.
WHAT I BUY MOST AT ZARA HOME:
- Furniture
- Home accents
- Decorative objects
Homegoods, T.J. Maxx & Marshalls
Ohhh T.J. Maxx, one of two favorite TJs (the other being Trader Joe’s, of course!). The whole family of Homegoods, Marshalls and TJ Maxx are a great source for budget friendly finds, but it does take some time, patience and stamina to find what you need. It reminds me of thrifting in a lot of ways were you have to go in open minded and maybe not with something specific in mind. I have found my best finds by just browsing! They do have online options, but you are going to find more or better deals if you go into the store itself.
WHAT I BUY MOST AT HOMEGOODS, TJ MAXX & MARSHALLS:
- Candles
- Decorative objects
- Bedding & Blankets
- Art and frames
- Accent furniture
- Holiday decor
Amazon
Ohhhh Amazon. What can’t you find on Amazon? That is the beauty of it. You can find most all things you would want for home in all kinds of price poinst on Amazon and that is why I love it. Fast shipping, easy returns, and all online.
THINGS I BUY AT AMAZON:
- Decorative accents
- Furniture accents: cabinet pulls, credenza feet, etc.
- Coffee table books
- Faux florals
- Vases, votives
