In spring 2021, I participated in the One Room Challenge where I designed and updated our apartment rental’s sunroom. You can find the before photos and inspiration post here and the design board here. Since this blog did not exist at that point, I did not have a full reveal on here, but wanted to include it on here since it is the first room I designed from concept to execution.
This was my first room I purposefully designed – complete with mood-board, design board and mock-up. Though as a renter we were restrained on major renovations like updating floors, adding moulding or adding doors, I did complete my first serious DIY project using major power tools to build the fluted table base! It was also my first time refinishing furniture, taking one of the cane chairs from black to white paint. Then the rest of the room just took time scouting and sourcing over the course of the last several months. The real marble top was due to months and months of Facebook Marketplace scouting (special thanks to my sister and brother for picking this up in their city!). Lamp is current World Market, which I replaced the shade with an empire shaped shade from Restoration Hardware. To complete the look, we switched out our cowhide rug for an argyle jute rug from Rugs USA which I used to mimic an argyle tile floor. You can shop the room at the end of the post or here!
I’m so SO happy with how this turned out, and it’s so satisfying to see my design come to life! Thanks again to One Room Challenge and Better Homes and Gardens for having me as a guest!
